 Personal Encounter with Jesus

Why did Peter get out of the boat in the midst of a storm? Why did thousands come to Jesus two thousand years ago? Why did the Roman Centurion - and the woman with the issue of blood, reach out?

They came because they believed that miracles would happen, that they would be healed of their sickness, set free from their pain and fear! - And that is exactly why Peter got out of that boat! If you can understand, he was in a storm, he could not see Jesus, but he was determined that whatever the cost, whatever the problem, whatever the miracle, he would get out of that boat, he would leave the security, the safety of the boat, he would trust himself to a raging storming sea, in order that he himself might have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ!

That action took tremendous courage! But this miracle could not have happened in the life of Peter, he would not have had this personal encounter with Jesus Christ in his storm, unless he, not Jesus, but Peter, got out of the boat! Peter was only young, he wasn't a holy man, but a simple fisherman, he was no different in character to any of you! It took him an enormous amount of courage to get out of the boat to reach Jesus!

In your storm - in whatever crisis you are in - you have to have courage to come to Jesus. He's calling you. Before you knew anything about Jesus, He made the first step towards you - He left the glory of Heaven and stepped out into the storm of your life. He had to die so you could live, so that you could be free.
