'I will save the limping ones and gather the outcasts and will make them a praise and a name in every land of their shame' (Zephaniah 3:19)
During November, David had a wonderful opportunity to minister and pray with thousands of Holocaust survivors in Israel - first in Jerusalem, in a special service on 24 November; then in a large auditorium in Haifa, 25-26 November. In total, more than 6000 unbelievers attended the three services. David said to these survivors, "I want to give you a new hope. The Bible is full of God's love for Jewish people. I have tried to understand what happened to you in the ghettos and death camps. The Bible shows God has always brought you through suffering into a tremendous deliverance and a wonderful future. God sent His Son, Son of David, Son of God, to rescue you. Despised, rejected, He was beaten and died for you, here, in this land. Yeshua is searching for you, He wants to heal you. We cannot forget, but we cannot live forever with hurt in our hearts. You have written the names of your loved ones on your Holocaust memorials, but Yeshua wants to give you a new life and write your name in Heaven!"
The leaders of the survivors told David, "We went through the Holocaust alone, today we are not alone, you will support us with your prayer and preaching. We cannot express the happiness we have from your contact. Our people who survived the Holocaust have children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren - you cannot understand the effect your preaching will have on them." One Holocaust survivor leader, Gita, originally from Romania, went into the ghetto aged 2, her mother, Hannah, died there aged only 22. She said, "I am 2 people, the good in me is my mother speaking." Gita was 5 when she came out of the ghetto. Most of her family perished. She also said, "The preaching and prayers have melted the ice in my heart!"
Speaking about ministering in Israel this year David said, "For 50 years I have been working in the communist countries, although in my heart I always wanted to work in Israel; but God showed me I had to evangelise Russia first. Recently He called me back into Israel. This year we have held the most amazing, miraculous services ever seen there. - How is this possible? There are now so many Russian Jews in Israel - approximately 20% of the population actually speak Russian - that the Russians actually invited me to hold the same services we do in Russia, but this time in Israel! God had to take me to Russia first - then the Russians went to Israel to bring the power of the Gospel there!"

Over 3000 attended the final night of services in Israel, 26 November 2011. David again preached Jesus, Yeshua, their Jewish Messiah - who was born in Bethlehem, grew up in Nazareth, died in Jerusalem - in their country for them: "God sent His Son to Israel, not to make you proud, but because of the tragedy of your past, to love and forgive you, to heal you, to give you a hope and a future."
They literally poured forward to pray the prayer of repentance. Many were healed. Two gave outstanding testimonies of how they were healed in the April meetings we held in Tel Aviv 6 months ago. A mother brought her young son, healed of a genetic disease, confirmed by medical tests! And a woman, healed of a large tumour on her right eye - it completely vanished!
Afterwards our tour guide, a born-again Messianic Jew, said to us: "Christians come in their thousands and millions to 'support' Israel - they hold meetings, I take their tour groups, but even the greatest 'evangelists' do not reach one Israeli. The realisation has 'hit' me! Thank you for bringing Jesus to our people!"
In Haifa on 25 November 2011 over 2000 Holocaust survivors from all over the North of Israel attended David Hathaway's meetings to hear his preaching and to pray together. The only Christians present were the local ushers, the musicians, a tour group of 40, and our own team.
The leaders of the survivors told David, "We went through the Holocaust alone, today we are not alone, you will protect us with your prayer and preaching. We cannot express the happiness we have from your contact. Our people who survived the Holocaust have children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren - you cannot understand the effect your preaching will have on them."
David said to the people, "Yeshua, the Son of God, came to forgive our sin and heal our sickness. All sin can be forgiven to the sons of men. God sent Yeshua, a Jew, to you, to Israel, to search for you, to rescue you, to bring you home to a loving Father, to give you eternal life. - He has called you to be His sons and daughters, to be His friends. God has a Son, His Name is Yeshua - call on Him!"
Most of the 2000 people in the arena stood and many came forward for the prayer of repentance. Between this, and the prayer for healing, not only this organising pastor spoke to them, but one of the Holocaust leaders stood together with him and publicly endorsed David's preaching and prayer. Miracles of healing followed. One woman testified from the platform, "It's incredible! Now I have to believe in miracles! The Word of God must have lots of power!" And touchingly, another woman healed of an injury to her shoulder, said "I was the only child to survive the pogrom in our village! And I am healed!"
On Thursday 24 November more than 1000 Holocaust Survivors from all over southern Israel packed an auditorium in Jerusalem to overflowing, filling the balconies and seating behind the stage - extra chairs were fetched from nearby restaurants and cafes to accommodate all the people! Representatives of 4 different organisations greeted David: 'For us, tortured by the Nazis, it is a great privilege to meet with you, David, because you love and support those who lost 6 million, victims of Hitler's crimes. We, Nazi Camp Survivors, are now in our 70s, 80s and 90s. With our severe childhood we, who overcame the horrors of the Holocaust, need care in our older age. Our hearts are over-filled with joy that in this world there are people like you who remember us who survived that hell and butchery.'
In this atmosphere, David said, 'I want to give you a new hope. The Bible is full of God's love for Jewish people. I have tried to understand what happened to you in the ghettos and death camps. The Bible shows God has always brought you through suffering into a tremendous deliverance and a tremendous future. God set His Son, Son of David, Son of God, to rescue us. Despised, rejected, He was beaten and died for you, here, in this land. Yeshua is searching for you, He wants to heal you. We cannot forget, but we cannot live forever in hurt in our own hearts. You have written the names of your loved ones in your Holocaust memorials, but Yeshua wants to give you a new life and write your name in Heaven.'
One of the ladies who spoke in the meeting, Gita, went into the ghetto aged 2, her mother, Hannah, died there aged only 22. She said, I am 2 people, the good in me is my mother speaking. Gita was 5 when she came out of the ghetto.
