Below are two personal reflections about the Vilnius, Lithuania Crusade. - Please visit the 'Media' section to view photograph and movie galleries.

Joan Henson - who was herself healed of terminal cancer in 2005 after receiving a 'gift of faith' through David's preaching - attended the Vilnius evangelism.

Awesome!!! Is the first word that comes to mind. 'For such a time as this' also resounds in my spirit, both for me personally and for Lithuania and even beyond for Europe. Many Pastors and people I talked with, said the same thing, "We have been waiting for this! - And NOW it is happening, it is the beginning and we are part of it".

After the main service  people rushed to get to the 'Prayer Room'. The Ministry team spent many hours with people who, after hearing the Word in the main auditorium were anxious and eager to see what they had heard become reality in their lives and those of their families and friends. - They came in faith to receive; they just needed encouragement and a personal touch to see their faith released for the healing they were asking God for.

A considerable number were suffering from mental and psychological problems. Every one of them, including several children, who were brought by their parents, received release and healing, and went away changed - full of thankfulness and joy. Several people came back to the next session to testify of their healing. A large number also came with heart conditions, back pain and spinal problems. It was touching to listen to the concerns of some for neighbours, friends and family.

I learnt that prayer does not have to be complicated or lengthy. I found there was little need to go into the detail of the problem - just enough to have an understanding.

I end as I began - awesome - what I have seen and experienced of God's power and love in Vilnius has changed me. I am not the same as I was when I set out from Heathrow. - I thank God for that!

Michael Wieteska, Pastor of The Church of the Living Saviour in Geneva wrote this report in response to our Vilnius Crusade...

The sight of the gospel of power being preached to a packed stadium of ten thousand people each night, by Evangelist David Hathaway, in Vilnius, Lithuania (now part of the E.U.) was awesome. As thousands came forward each night for prayers of repentance, they were ministered to by carefully prepared teams of local ministers and counselors, and channeled into ongoing Alpha courses. Before that, the various worship groups had prepared the way with praise and worship of a high order. But of course, with a David Hathaway Crusade it did not end there. After that came the prayers for the sick, with many streaming forward to give testimony to how God had touched their bodies.

And if all that were not enough, when everybody has been ministered to, or were continuing to be ministered to in the prayer rooms by a dedicated prayer team, where healings continued to occur, and the Holy Spirit was being poured out on people, each night a groups of top singers continued to the later hours, with thousands staying on to enjoy what was doubtlessly the greatest all round gospel event Continental Europe has ever witnessed.

On Friday night the emphasis was on youth; Saturday night saw vibrant modern gospel to suit the taste, with a star performer backed by a truly great choir group, while on the final night the rock-gospel opera, performed by leading Lithuanian opera singers, was so powerful you did not need to understand Lithuanian to be moved to tears. It was a though we were in a top London or New York theatre, so great were the sets, so stupendous the lighting, so polished the presentation. Oh yes, and let us not forget the hundreds of orphans that The Hathaway team had bussed in on Sunday afternoon, for their own little Disneyland!

This crusade has set a groundbreaking new level of overall ministry: I have never witnessed anything like it. The team David put together to prepare it also deserve special commendation for this truly outstanding and seamless crusade - and I and my wife Tess were highly privileged to be a very small part of it. If any Evangelistic organization in the world deserves support for its work in Russia and Europe, in terms effectiveness and of “bangs per buck”, it is surely the Eurovision Crusade team of David Hathaway!

Vilnius, Lithuania, Crusade Summary

Vilnius, Lithuania, Crusade Summary

The crusade in Vilnius, Lithuania, is the largest crusade we have held in Europe – and probably the largest since the great Billy Graham rallies. It cost us everything we have – but the results are tremendous. – Thank you for praying – Thank you for giving.

The three days of evangelism, were, in the words of the founding pastor of the large United Nations Church in Geneva, ‘a spectacular success’ – ‘the finest preparation and presentation combined with the greatest power of God’. We took and filled the largest indoor stadium in the Baltics – more than 10,000 attended the evening services – and according to the pastors, a maximum of 2,500 were believers, the great majority being unbelievers who responded nightly, in their thousands, to the powerful preaching of the Gospel, streaming forward with tears of repentance until the centre of the arena was packed. Nationwide advertising brought in bus-loads from across the nation – with the result that the whole nation was shaken. After we left, over 30 separate Alpha Courses were started in Vilnius alone to take care of the new believers! A businessman staying in our hotel attended all the meetings. – He said, ‘Never have such meetings been held in Lithuania!’ A local pastor told us, ‘Never in the whole history of the nation have so many people ever gathered to hear the Gospel! We have been waiting and praying over twenty years for this.’

Our organisers began preparation one year before, involving the whole nation, and every denominational group from Pentecostal to the Catholics who asked us to give it the national title of ‘Gospel Celebration’, to celebrate 1000 years since Christianity first came to Lithuania. Local representatives went into every town, every village, throughout the nation, to tell the churches to bring unbelievers into the meetings. The secular media carried our advertising and wrote positively in anticipation even before the event. The campaign was combined with a great humanitarian aid programme to relieve the distress caused by the catastrophic financial situation in Lithuania, which now finds itself lying behind a new ‘Iron Curtain’ of financial debt to Western Europe. A special event was also held for the orphan children from across the country. The last night closed with a grand musical finale – the finest professional singers in the nation performing a very moving and spectacular musical on the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ which confirmed the spectacular glory of our redemption in Christ.

When we planned this great evangelism we had no money – and it finally cost us more than we had – In fact, all we ever have is the prayer we put in, your support and the power of God!

Personal Accounts of the Crusade...

'I saw the swell of the crowd as people rushed to the altar to receive salvation after David Hathaway had shared his own, and the Father's heart to the crowd. You cannot pretend to know God and touch people's lives - David has met the master and through him people meet their saviour' - Linda J Clifford-Hayes

'On the final night of the crusade, David spoke about the unfathomable love of God for all of us. He likened it to the love of a mother for her baby, and the joy that fills her heart everytime she touches her little one. While listening to the preaching, I found myself sobbing uncontrollably beside my husband. Since I first gave my heart to Jesus in 2000, I have never sobbed the way I did that night. Oh, the love of Jesus!!!' - Tess Wieteska

'This crusade has set a groundbreaking new level of overall ministry: I have never witnessed anything like it. The team David put together to prepare it also deserve special commendation for this truly outstanding and seamless crusade - I and my wife Tess were highly privileged to be a very small part of it. If any Evangelistic organization in the world deserves support for its work in Russia and Europe, in terms of its effectiveness and of “bangs per buck”, it is surely the Eurovision Crusade team of David Hathaway' - Pastor Michael Wieteska
